Is your child currently enrolled at a Cedar Hill ISD campus? Returning Longhorn enrollment is quick and easy — just let us know your child is coming back next year, and we’ll be ready to welcome them home!
New Longhorns (Pre-K-12)
We’re excited to welcome new families to the Longhorn community! As a small district with BIG possibilities, we believe learning begins by meeting children and families where they are — fostering a sense of belonging, safety and connection while meeting their fundamental needs for love and personalized support.
Complete these three steps to join the Longhorn Family
- Use the School Finder tool to determine which school your scholar will attend
- Request a New Student Skyward Account. Once you complete the request, you should receive an email with login information.
- Gather your documents and complete the online New Longhorn enrollment in Skyward.
Out of District Transfers (Pre-K-12)
Cedar Hill ISD proudly offers selective enrollment transfers for students residing outside our attendance zones. While space is limited, each application is carefully reviewed using a district matrix that considers academics, attendance, behavior and campus availability.
We look forward to partnering with families who are excited to join our supportive and inspiring learning community!
*Documentation MUST be either uploaded to the transfer request or emailed to registrationhelp@chisd.net before a transfer is evaluated and a decision is made by the district.

A Discipline Letter/Letter of Discipline Assurance is required from the prior year.
Please note that school transportation is not provided for transfer students.
- Transfer decisions are carefully made by the Superintendent or their designee, with thoughtful consideration of classroom space, teacher availability, and each student’s attendance, behavior, and academic history.
- Transfers are approved for one school year at a time; once a transfer is approved, it continues unless revoked due to concerns such as attendance, behavior, or space limitations.
- Accepted transfer students shall maintain a 95% attendance rate, follow all rules and regulations of CHISD.
- Accepted transfer students must exemplify acceptable citizenship and conduct.
- Accepted transfer students shall make acceptable academic progress.
- Accepted transfer students are not guaranteed admission to a requested campus or signature studies school.
- Out-of-district transfer students participating in any UIL sport or activity are subject to UIL review and must follow CHISD athletic transfer policies.
